What is ISO 9001?
An internationally recognized standard for quality management system as it’s purpose is to help organizations to demonstrate their commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Its essentially a blueprint for businesses to establish, implement, maintain, and continuously improve a QMS to ensure they deliver quality products and services.
There are 7 key principles in ISO 9001. (1) Customer Focus, meeting and exceeding customer expectations is the primary goal. (2) Leadership, strong leadership establishes a clear vision, direction, and alignment of people within the organization. (3) Engagement of People, competent, empowered, and engaged employees enhance an organization’s ability to create value. (4) Process Approach, managing activities as interrelated processes improves efficiency and results. (5) Improvement, continuous improvement is a permanent objective of the organization. (6) Evidence-Based Decision Making, decisions based on the analysis of data lead to better results. (7) Relationship Management, managing relationships with interested parties (like suppliers) improves performance and sustainability.
